Get to know me!

Hi! I’m Kristin, the artist behind Kristin’s Wicked Workshop.

I’m a military spouse, mom of two (including a special needs daughter), and the maker behind all things weird, whimsical, and wonderfully handmade. My family and I have lived all over the country, and we’re currently making the move from Jacksonville, Florida to San Diego, California… with two kids, two dogs, and a whole lot of craft supplies. I’m originally from Michigan, but creating has always been my constant no matter where we land.

I’m a sculptor, puppet maker, and mixed-media artist specializing in handcrafted characters and immersive pieces inspired by film, television, and practical effects. My work is deeply influenced by Jim Henson's Creature Shop and Weta Workshop, drawing from their legacy of storytelling through physical builds. I’m especially inspired by the emotion and personality that come through in puppetry and creature work—the kind of magic you can actually hold in your hands.

I use a mix of sculpting, foam fabrication, sewing, casting, and finishing techniques to create lifelike puppets, creatures, and cinematic dioramas that feel like they’ve stepped right out of their worlds. Whether it’s a character-driven puppet or a detailed display piece, I approach every project with a strong focus on storytelling, craftsmanship, and expression.

Each piece I create is inspired by my love for movies, TV, and pop culture… with a wicked twist. I’ve grown my work by sharing my process online and collaborating with entertainment brands, and as I settle into Southern California, my goal is to work alongside creative teams bringing characters to life for screen and beyond.

Thanks for stopping by and supporting handmade art 🖤
